Pedro Polini, the circus owner and ringmaster, has died. He has left his circus to his daughter Paula Polini whose skills as a ringmaster are very suspect. The circus performers - Stephano the strong, Bernado the brave, Nina the nimble and Francisco the funny - do not feel like performing, but Joshua, the stage-hand, always has a story that helps them overcome their fear. Includes the stories of Samson, Daniel and the lions, Esther, Joseph and Jesus. In the end Paula finds that she can fill her father's shoes and be a successful ringmaster.
